I am a New York State Clinically Licensed and Nationally Board Certified Creative Arts Therapist, trained in EMDR with a focus on trauma. Additionally, I serve as an on-site Supervisor for NYU Steinhardt, contributing to the development of new New York creative arts therapists.
My clinical experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized psychological care within the realm of mental health. I treat a variety of mental health disorders and provide a neutral ground for individuals, families, and couples seeking psychotherapy.
For some, traditional talk therapy can feel threatening and intrusive. It can often be difficult for individuals to express how they are feeling or what they are thinking. Art therapy, a technique utilized by many NY creative arts therapists, works well with children, adolescents, and adults because it is universal and adaptable. This approach provides a non-threatening, indirect way to work through problems. Through art therapy, I help create a secure outlet for you and/or your loved ones to express your emotions. This process fosters a sense of control while keeping the therapeutic experience interesting and creative. Art therapy is an effective way to uncover underlying thoughts and feelings, enabling individuals to work through them and build on existing strengths to enhance resiliency.
Many studies are being conducted to measure the benefits of art therapy. For instance, a randomized controlled study involving 22 children found that those who participated in art therapy exhibited greater improvement in tests quantifying anxiety levels and quality of life, even six months after treatment.
My focus as a therapist is to support individuals in their mental health recovery by helping them recognize and build on their strengths. I provide a secure, non-judgmental space, listen to your concerns, and work collaboratively with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals, utilizing the expertise of New York creative arts therapists and NY creative arts therapists in psychotherapy.
Your treatment goals will be unique to you, especially when considering mental health. These goals will serve as the building blocks of your treatment plan, crafted with the expertise of New York creative arts therapists. They will be specific, realistic, and tailored to your individual needs. Together, we will develop the necessary tools to help you move forward in living a healthier and more authentic life through psychotherapy with a skilled therapist.
Mental health issues can manifest in various forms, including depression, anxiety disorders such as OCD, trauma and PTSD, and conditions like autism spectrum disorder. Other concerns include school refusal, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and psychosis. Additionally, personality disorders, mood disorders, and thought disorders are significant areas of focus. Factitious disorder and oppositional defiance (ODD) are also important to address within psychotherapy. Behavioral concerns, ADD/ADHD, and the need for gender-affirming therapy or gender reassignment/transitioning therapy are increasingly recognized in the field. Therapists, particularly New York creative arts therapists, often work with diverse populations, including the LGBTQ+ community, to address women's issues and provide couples therapy. Dual diagnosis, grief, life transitions, obesity, and self-esteem challenges are also common topics in psychotherapy sessions with qualified therapists.
