My Clinical Practice

I am a New York State Clinically Licensed and Nationally Board Certified Creative Arts Therapist, trained in EMDR with a focus on trauma. Additionally, I serve as an on-site Supervisor for NYU Steinhardt, contributing to the development of new New York creative arts therapists.

I have over a decade of experience in psychiatric crisis care across New York State hospitals, working with individuals of all ages, in addition to my private practice experience. This background has given me a well-rounded understanding of the connection between mental and physical health, crisis intervention, and the important role medication can play in treatment and overall wellness.

My clinical experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized care. I treat a variety of mental health disorders and provide a neutral ground for individuals, families, and couples seeking psychotherapy.

For some, traditional talk therapy can feel threatening and intrusive. It can often be difficult for individuals to express how they are feeling or what they are thinking. Art therapy, a technique utilized by many NY creative arts therapists, works well with children, adolescents, and adults because it is universal and adaptable. This approach provides a non-threatening, indirect way to work through problems. Through art therapy, I help create a secure outlet for you and/or your loved ones to express your emotions. This process fosters a sense of control while keeping the therapeutic experience interesting and creative. Art therapy is an effective way to uncover underlying thoughts and feelings, enabling individuals to work through them and build on existing strengths to enhance resiliency.

Many studies are being conducted to measure the benefits of art therapy. For instance, a randomized controlled study involving 22 children found that those who participated in art therapy exhibited greater improvement in tests quantifying anxiety levels and quality of life, even six months after treatment.

Treatment Focus

As a therapist specializing in mental health recovery, my focus is on supporting individuals by helping them recognize and build on their strengths. I provide a secure, non-judgmental space where we can address your concerns. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals, drawing on my expertise as a New York creative arts therapist with a strong background in psychotherapy and trauma training.

Treatment Goals

Your treatment goals will be unique to you, especially when considering mental health. These goals will serve as the building blocks of your treatment plan, specifically designed with the support of New York creative arts therapists. They will be specific, realistic, and tailored to your individual needs. Together with a qualified NY creative arts therapist, we will develop the necessary tools to help you move forward in living a healthier and more authentic life through effective psychotherapy.

Specialties

Mental health concerns manifest across a broad spectrum, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions such as PTSD, and psychotic disorders. Additional areas of concern may encompass school refusal, self-injurious behaviors, and suicidal ideation. New York Creative Arts Therapists also frequently address personality disorders, mood disorders, and disturbances in thought processes.

NY Creative Arts Therapists are uniquely equipped with a diverse range of expressive and experiential modalities that allow them to effectively engage and treat a wide variety of diagnoses and clinical presentations. Through the integration of creative processes—such as art, music, movement, drama, and even sport- and performance-based interventions—these therapists support individuals across the spectrum of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, behavioral challenges, and complex comorbidities. Art, in particular, acts as a powerful therapeutic vehicle, enabling clients to communicate thoughts and emotions that may be challenging to access or articulate verbally. It offers a safe and contained medium for exploration, expression, and meaning-making, often facilitating insight, emotional regulation, and healing. Additionally, incorporating elements of athletic and mental strengthening therapies can foster resilience, discipline, mind-body awareness, and support self-esteem building and overall self-efficacy.

Creative Arts Therapists—particularly those practicing in New York—often work with diverse populations, including individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, and provide specialized support for women’s issues and couples therapy. Additional common areas of focus include dual diagnosis, grief and loss, life transitions, weight-related concerns, and self-esteem difficulties. This flexible, integrative, and process-oriented approach enhances accessibility to psychotherapy and allows for individualized, developmentally appropriate interventions tailored to each client’s unique and evolving needs.

I believe that a different therapy must be constructed for each patient because each has a unique story.
