The answer to both questions is, Yes!
Particularly this time a year where the added support can make a world of difference! With the added stresses od the Pandemic and the seemingly endless responsibilities for all!
Art Therapy can help you, and or your child or teen on many levels. Talk Therapy can feel threatening and intrusive at times. Sometimes, it can be too hard for someone to express how they are feeling or what they are thinking. Art Therapy works well with children, adolescents and adults because it is universal, adaptable, and because it provides a non-threatening indirect way of working through problems while providing a secure outlet for you and those you love to express what you are feeling. This process helps individuals feel a sense of control, while keeping the therapeutic process interesting and creative.
Art Therapy is a way to discover underlying thoughts and feelings, work through them and build on existing strengths to increase resiliency.
Many studies are being done to measure the benefits of Art Therapy, and “a randomized controlled study of 22 children found that those who received art therapy showed greater improvement on tests that quantify anxiety levels and quality of life, even 6 months after treatment.”
