I am a New York State Licensed and Nationally Board-Certified Art Psychotherapist with advanced training in EMDR and trauma treatment. I hold a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from New York University, where I also serve as an on-site NYU Supervisor. My clinical training and professional experience have focused on integrating psychotherapy with visual arts practice, using the creative process as both a clinical assessment method and a therapeutic intervention. My education emphasized scholarly research, evidence-based practice, and the therapeutic application of creative modalities. I have also served as a presenter and as an Events and Studio Chair Assistant at Art Therapy conferences across the United States.
For over a decade, I worked as an inpatient therapist at a New York–based psychiatric hospital providing both individual and group Art Therapy and Psychotherapy for children and adolescents requiring a highly structured therapeutic environment. In addition to this work, I have provided Art Therapy and psychotherapy to adults living with HIV/AIDS, individuals with substance use disorders, and adults in residential and correctional settings. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complex ways mental health impacts individuals, families, and communities.
I am now a Senior Mental Health Therapist for New York State’s first Crisis Residential Program, where our interdisciplinary team provides emergent psychiatric care—including medication management, intensive therapy, case management, substance use counseling, and peer support—for individuals experiencing acute emotional or psychological crises. This role has reinforced the importance of offering flexible, compassionate, and multimodal treatment that meets clients in their most immediate moments of need.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including person-centered, trauma-informed, and neuroscience-supported models. Research has demonstrated that Art Therapy can support emotional regulation, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, enhance communication for individuals who struggle to verbalize emotions, and strengthen resilience by increasing insight and coping skills. EMDR and other trauma-focused interventions further help individuals safely process distressing experiences, reduce physiological activation, and support sustainable emotional healing. I combine these approaches to provide thoughtful, individualized care rooted in both research and clinical experience.
I truly enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, and my goal is always to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment that allows clients to explore, grow, and build toward improved quality of life. I believe in empowering individuals to live more authentically, strengthen resilience, and make meaningful, lasting change.
